Nadi
Nadi is 30 years old and runs his dad’s successful carpentry business in Nazareth and lived with his parents, Rachel and Ethan who he would do anything for. He used to think his whole life was laid out before him, working, paying taxes, getting married, having kids and paying more taxes.
The Dreamer
He loves studying the Scriptures and writing in his journal. However, he believes he is meant for something bigger than this.
Chloe
Chloe is 27 who lived with her father Joseph of Arimathea who was one of the wealthiest men in Galilee. Her life was carved out for her when she was a child.
The Follower
Her life changed when she met Nadi and Jesus. She travelled with Jesus for three years and watched all his miracles first hand.
Jesus
When we first him, Jesus is 30 years old and works in Nadi’s carpentry business. He is not married and lives with his mum, Mary. He has high hopes for his future, he knows he is the Messiah, the Chosen one, but keeps it a secret for now.
The Healer
When we see him in 33AD, it is the eve of his Passion and he is nervous, but he has a good group of friends around him, including Chloe. He has a great sense of humour and has no problems upsetting the status quo. He wears his heart on his sleeve and shows incredible compassion, but he can be easily hurt and feels suffering like anyone else.
Time and action
There are two time periods.
The first is modern day Sydney in Australia. Pastor Richmond gives her Easter Sermon on Nadi reflecting on his recently discovered journals he wrote as he witnessed first hand the Passion of Jesus.
The second time period contains Nadi and Chloe in 30-33AD.
There are various settings including a carpentry workshop, caves and the road to Jerusalem, but most of the action takes place in the garden of Gethsemane, Jerusalem, in 33AD.
Sea of Galilee
The campfire is on the shore of Galilee. Fishing boats are in the distance and there is a bustle as traders and locals go about their business. Tables have bread, water, and wine on them.
Carpentry workshop
This is a basic workspace with hammers, nails, saws, axes, wood sanders and other basic tools. It is a successful business with lots of broken tables and chairs to fix. Wood is stored on shelves at the side and the smell of wood shavings on the floor fills the workshop.
Gethsemane
There are lots of large Olive trees and shrubbery. There is an open place where the disciples could have erected tents. A fire burns in the middle of the camp site.
Road to Calvary
These streets are narrow and Jesus would have been very close to onlookers. There is nowhere for Jesus to hide or take a rest.
Golgotha
Jesus was crucified between Levi and Gesmas. Jerusalem can be seen in the background. It is eerily quiet with only a few people witnessing the deaths.
